Wednesday, October 10, 2007 10:12:54 AM It first went clockwise, then when I tried to picture it moving cclockwise after a while, it did. Now because i thought about it and the shadow makes it look like its going cclockwise, I cant see it going clockwise. Ugh. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 10:10:37 AM Actually yeah if you focus on the womans raised leg you can get it to move both ways. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 9:59:52 AM Still haven't managed to see it counterclockwise. (I think of clockwise/counter clockwise as if the clock is face-up on the ground, not face-down--i.e. viewed from above. I think most people do.) |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 9:33:22 AM I broke it down to test out the frames. It really does matter which side she starts on. If I start the animation with the foot on the left, it looks clockwise. If I start it out with the leg on the right it looks counterclockwise. lol

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 9:23:45 AM Vikstar's got it right."You're a moron coz that isn't the point of the picture. I'm not talking about infinite flicker rates or making her spin different directions because you CANNOT do that. She spins the same direction the whole time. It is a matter at what angle or perspective you are looking at her spin from. STUPID." Try harder. Since she's completely black, there is no shading or any sort of depth information. It's logically impossible to tell whether her planted foot is facing you or away from you, or whether her outstretched leg is swinging behind or in front of her. Your brain just comes up with that info itself, giving the illusion that the figure is "spinning" a certain way. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 9:14:32 AM Yeah, I saw counter clockwise first, looked down to read the caption again then looked up and she was clockwise. I couldn't make myself see counter-clockwise again. Then I started completely over from the home page and it was counter clockwise again. Is this a joke? Am I insane? |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 8:47:19 AM It switches directions. The animation is rigged. It doesn't tell you anything, except whether or not you're willing to sit around and wait for it to switch. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 8:29:29 AM if you see it clockwise and want to see it counter clockwise, i suggest looking at the foot and switching it with that, i can see both ways and switch them at will, getting back to clockwise took me a while though, try being able to switch them at will its kinda fun, you can then see how its all done, quite clever really. i doubt that seeing it one way or the other actually means your left or right brained though. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 7:55:45 AM And to Cantab... the eye-ness doesn't make sense, if I point with my left hand, my finger jumps when I close/open my left, if I point with my right hand, my finger jumps when I close/open my right eye, so according to you my eye-ness changes depending on which hand I use to point at anytime. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 7:36:27 AM I saw it go both ways. It does take a second to switch views, like Sudburyman said. The first time I saw it counter clockwise though. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 7:36:00 AM Vikstar's got it most right. She's not spinning at all, because she's a TWO-DIMENSIONAL animation. Your brain interprets it as a rotation, but it's ambiguous, and can be interpreted either way. Watch for long enough and you'll probably see her 'reverse'.It's just a moving version of the face/vase, rabbit/duck, old woman/young woman, cube, staircase, etc etc. And has no relation to 'right-brained' or 'left-brained'ness; it's more plausible that it relates to handedness or 'eye-ness' (you can be right-eyed or left-eyed. To test, point at something with both eyes open. CLose each eye in turn. When you close one, your finger will appear to jump. That eye is your eye-ness. (sometimes it jumps for both though) I'm right-eyed and right-handed. |
