We have a lot of stuff on savants... I'm surprised I'm not sick of it yet. It really is interesting to see how many odd but amazing things can come out of autistic cases and certain damages to the brain. |

i actually met that guy before: my school was doing an assembly and they invited him sence he's local. (my school's in bolder colorado) |

i ever heard that we only use like 5 % of our brain . We don't know how to use the rest . Except for this and some other genious guys and girls . |

thats not necessarily true. yes, this man has extraordinary artistic ability, but he cant read, write, or calculate. his right brain hemisphere was only compensating because his left was damaged. who knows how great a mathematician he could have been, or how "normal" he might have been. |

when she talks about the putty he is smiling to himself in the background ;)its so odd that an injury can trigger this type of reaction in a person...robbing them of their social skills, but compelling them to create beautiful works of art or perform phenomenal computations. |

My father-in-law is the administrator at a home for people with mental disabilities. One of the residents is a savant, he knows -everything- about baseball. His mind just stores all of that knowledge and he's so interesting to talk to. |
