MARKRQ: I like the explanation, but how does it still work when strangers cut the deck (which they did in the clip)...how does he get them back in the right order.If you think about an escalator, number all the stairs. If you stop it at random points, there will be different stairs on top than on bottom but the order will be the same every time you start and stop it. It's just a circle of stairs going round and round. The tricky part is getting it to stop/start at the right point each time so when you deal the cards you have the right one on top to deal. I guess if you start out with the right order, as llama said, cut it the right number of times and you'd be back to the beginning, no matter who cuts it or how many they choose to cut. |
