Wow. The other guys were complete assh*les. I know im sick of the story and i bet most of america is too. The other guy started talking about Iraq and she said that should be the lead story and it should be, not some girl who's famous because daddy made a lot of money with some hotels.

Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.

Whoa, what the hell?

If you type "F*ck", but instead of the "U" where it should be, put a "V" it replaces it with "Pretty little girl".

You cant really blame the news channels, they do what they are getting paid the most to do, rather, blame the people who are paying them to do it.

No one gives a flying I am a pretty pretty little girl about Anna Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton or Brittany spears.

To them, the death of a B-list celebrity was more important than the crap treatment our solders and veterens get.

It’s about f--king time that someone did something like this. Those jackasses were mocking her but she’s got it 100% right. This Hilton thing belongs in an entertainment mag or tabloid. It doesn’t deserve to be the lead story anywhere but on the “E!” network. We’ve got a war going on, political douchebaggery at all levels of government, scientists telling us that we’re all screwed in a couple of decades, religious nuts in America trying to legislate how we should all live and a hole cluster f—k of other problems and going-ons. She appears to be frustrated because she actually believes in good journalism and cant stand that all they do is sit there and talk fluff. I mean, do you realize that MSNBC and Fox News gave almost 12 times more coverage to the death of Anna Nicole Smith than they did to the ongoing developments in the Walter Reed military hospital story?

I believe she deserves a big round of applause.

That was such a set up. 'spontaneous' my arse! I bet she'd cleared it with her boss before the show started.

She obviously has a serious interest in current affairs rather than just being a figurehead for a larger cooperation - and she takes pride in her work.

Well done her, I say!

"I'm about to snap!!" - erm ... I think you already did...
Anyway, I kind of agree with her, what's the big deal with Paris? It's getting quite boring and repetitive now...

That woman is, quite frankly, an amazement and a credit to Americans everywhere. She represents a hold-over from the days where people didn't complacently listen to the latest prolefeed instead of paying mind to news about the Senate (their "second story") and the future of this country. Back when it was not only acceptable, but encouraged that you don't let your government knife you in the back, let alone your favored news program.
If T.R. were still alive, he'd have whooped some ass over Paris getting so much air time.

lol cashcleaner have you actually WATCHED the BBC? Its pretty crap. I think the general standard of TV in America is a lot better than in England. Most of the shows I watch are usually American anyway.
Anyway, I think this woman did a really good thing. She stood up for herself and her beliefs (even though she could have gotten fired) and refused to read a story. I know most newsreaders make a joke of the whole Paris Hilton thing, but they usually still read it out. And what BigBonny says is true, in the UK newsreaders don't add any opinion to the story and are usually pretty impartial... but that's no fun!

It's about freaking time somebody in the media developed a backbone and actually broadcast news items of importance. And hey BigBonny, I know what the media is like in the UK and with the exception of the BBC, you're journalists are jokes compared to most from the US and Canada. I wouldn't be throwing stones in a glass house here.

She did the right thing by throwing that sheet in the shredder.

Ok, so I agree with the fact that Paris Hilton doesn't belong in the news.
But that lady was a douchebag. It's unfortunate but when you work in a field such as newscasting, you don't choose what you report and what you don't. If you're told to do a damn story, you do it. I don't care what it is.
Biased and personal opinions should NEVER be worked into the news, and she knows that. If that's the way she feels about things, she never should have taken that job.

Anti-americanism aside (seriously, you people derail threads quicker than a penny from Woodruff, Wisconsin), she did not "lose it" or "blow a gasket". She stated her opinion, did it well, and handled herself amazingly for someone who was getting mocked by the two people who are working with her and only disagreeing with her cuz' they don't have enough balls to do what they know is right. She rocks.

WHOO! I support her all the way. That stuff isn't really news and it never will be. I get so tired of seeing that crap posted all over the internet and on every TV chanel. People get out of/go to jail everyday why is she so special.

"I'll bet you a million drating dollars if I said something that ignorant about the UK, I'd get banned (or severely modded)"

Thank You

I am sick and tired of people bashing the US to make themselves feel important.
