Good point, Diddy, though I should have also mentioned that I've found the local papers in the UK (ie: Edinburgh Evening News) to be rather good reads as well.

Cashcleaner: Yep - I've read a few newspapers from time to time in the UK (I live there). Everyone in our country knows the sun and the the daily mail (not news) are sensationalist crap. Their target markets are idiots and people who like the lighter side of the news (The latter applies to The Sun not The Mail - mail was pro nazi before the start of WWII..). The independent (is supposidly neutral) and the Guardian (liberal slant) are a more intense read and a dictionary is often good company with your paper. This is why we have choice - if you don't like it, don't read it. Similar to what the newsreader thought.

Are you on crack, Eyesore?!

The BBC isn't perfect by any stretch, but it's a lot more impartial than NBC, Fox, ABC, CBA, and CNN. I think perhaps the news on PBS may have a slight advantage. Have you read any of the newspapers in the UK, though? The Guardian and Independant are the only publications I'll read. Everything else is sensationalist crap like the Sun or Daily News.

"That had to be fake... I mean it was funny and all but the conveniently PLACED LIGHTER in the man's pocket..."

Yah… one of the guys having a lighter on him totally makes this staged by MSNBC to point out how they prefer to bring the world tabloid news over real news… [/sarcasm]

Did it occur to you that that guy may be a smoker?

Try any celebrity name. Give "Spears" or "Madonna" a shot.

This post has at this writing, 145 comments, and more than 13,000 hits.

In the search bar, type "Hilton."

I got back 25 results. Five of those had less than 10,000 hits. The other twenty has much more than 10,000. Because they are about a celebrity.

Goes to show, this society is too celebrity obsessed.

"This is why I watch MSNBC instead of bigoted CNN."

My big rant was about what I saw on MSNBC.

Every news station puts celebritites above everything else. Because they're just that important.

That had to be fake. I mean it was funny and all but the conveniently in the man's pocket. How did she know it was there? Also the lit paper shredder ruined it for me. Just my opinion though.

I applaud her. I don't CARE if she went overboard. Sometimes that's what a person needs to be in order to get anything across these days. Screw Paris Hilton. OMG! SHE GOT OUT OF JAIL! YAY!? No. There are FAR more important issues that should have been leading!

I watched on the news awhile ago, they were covering the story of Paris Hilton being at her house, after being released from prison because of some **problem** (She was a rich celebrity, who was too good for jail.) she had. They had a news helicopter circling her house. Paris wasn't doing anything, so, they went to another news story. The conversation went something like this:

"Well, in other news, the leader of armed forces in Iraq has changed after...WAIT, WAIT, Paris Hilton is coming out of her house. Can we get back to the over-head view of her house? Ok, there she is. This just in, Paris Hilton has just left her house, she's being brought to her car. . ." etc.
I stared at the screen in astonishment. Paris Hilton is more important than the war in Iraq? Seriously now? This is EXACTLY what she wanted. More publicity. But that's just how it is now. Celebrities are more important than the healthcare crisis, the economy, more important than our soldiers dying in Iraq.

lol... you can't escape paris hilton! I was just watching the news not five minutes ago and I got treated to hearing more about her! So I suffered through the segment because I figured they'd go to the next story in a few minutes, but I heard one of the FUNNIEST things ever.
Apparently, the most embarassing thing poor little baby paris had to suffer in jail was being stripped search. She got all weepy about it, saying that having to be naked in front of someone she didn't even know was horrifying.
Lol... it's not like half the people in this country don't know what she looks like naked- remember her sex tape that sold way more copies than her cd? lol I found it amusing.

I think that Paris shouldn't be all in the news as much as she is. But that lady got on my nerves. She was acting like a royal b***h.
