I've worked the the guy in the video before. Nope, nothing impressive, he just likes screwing around with stuff like that, then try to make it impressive so he can get people to join the group. Funny how in over 8 years, he still hasn't gotten his 'non-profit' to do anything towards its goal.

Actually I'm pretty sure the triangle is a better shape than a sphere. Just my opinion. But I think it helps keep the electric flow more constant and keep the "updraft" of the ionized air under it. A sphere would just sit there because there would be no edges to catch the ionized air.
Just my opinion, could be wrong.

Yup. IIRC for ages no one was sure what was lifting it, because it actually still lifted in a "vacuum" so they were claiming it couldn't be ionic wind, turns out it just wasn't a very good vacuum. Retested in a more complete vacuum and nada, no lift whatsoever. |

The stability is the problem, notice how rubbish it was before it was fully guyed. That's one reason why aeroplanes are not shaped like flying saucers. |

This is really old! And really not that impressive since it's made out of ultra light material and must be connect to a very heavy generator ir order to produce the amount of Voltage needed. But it's fun to watch tough. |
