Monday, April 02, 2007 11:43:17 AM Circuit City isn't in business to provide people jobs, or a certain income. They're in business to make money. If they don't make money then they go out of business and every employee of the company is out of work. If you don't like how you're treated or compensated where you work leave. Most American employees have no loyalty to their employer, so why should a company have to pay its employees more than the market demands? If you can get a higher paying job at a different company, go...and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. |

Sunday, April 01, 2007 5:06:41 PM It's a little more than creepy that some of you are attacking the "little people", you know the one's that actually need those few dollars increase to survive inflation in our capitalistic society. Everyone knocks communism, and rightfully so, but capitalism is not a dream, it's the extreme opposite to communism. We have never successfully reached a middle(socialism) because of the greedy corporate bastards who refuse to live with a little less. FYI, Circut city, best buy, walmart any big box superstore who can afford to sell their products so cheap because they buy materials from sweat shop owners- are all the same. Different name but the same. I witnessed a 61 year old 23 year employee fired because she had cancer, even though she was still coming to work everyday. And that is glorious, wonderful capatalism. How is this the best way again? |

Sunday, April 01, 2007 2:52:01 PM I can't honestly believe that this handful of people making a bit more than the average could be that detrimental to the company unless they are really hurting in which case the layoffs aren't going to help much. This is just money grubbing and/or someone flexing their corporate equivalent to an e-peen.Oh, as for the increase in minimum wage, y'all seem to have the causality mixed up a tad. The reason they need more money is because things are more expensive and they kinda, sorta enjoy being alive. |

Sunday, April 01, 2007 12:19:37 AM Pure exploitation of the workers. Remember if you oppose their movements you're a communist! |

Saturday, March 31, 2007 9:00:45 PM It's hard to read this kind of thing, especially after having taken a Business Ethics class only a few months ago. I prefer Best Buy anyway.

Saturday, March 31, 2007 7:25:06 PM Plus, to add to that, when Best Buy last did it, they eliminated nearly 40% of employees. Circuit City eliminated only 3,400 employees. That's less than 10% of the employees nationwide. |

Saturday, March 31, 2007 4:45:30 PM I have a friend who is a manager at a Circuit City. It's not just Circuit City. Best Buy and Comp USA recently did the same thing. A lot of compnaies are experiencing the problem. These people aren't just paid a few cents more than what they should be making, they're being paid several full dollars more than what they're doing. As my friend put it, "This one guy was being paid $2 more than anyone else in his department, and he worked the least out of any of them." It's not just CC like I said. Best Buy and CompUSA did the same thing. It happens every six years or so. |

Saturday, March 31, 2007 4:29:31 PM Hey Bram you've got it easier than me, K mart deducts an hour for every five we work (lunch), even if we work it, & when minimum went up this year I had the $2 raise I had been working up (at like 25 cents a year) taken away. |

Saturday, March 31, 2007 4:13:13 PM Damn Circuit City! I am thinking about writing Corporate about this and demand an explanation. What this guy needs to do is contact the BBB and talk to them about it. He should also contact a lawyer for wrongful termination. As for going there again, I don't think I will. I know that 1 person won't make that a difference, but I like Best Buy better anyway |

Saturday, March 31, 2007 1:30:48 PM Circuit City will become bankrupt soon, they are already showing the signs. I think it is horrible for companies like this to do what they do. The people I work for love to poo on their good employees while they pamper the bad ones.Stay in school. I'll be damned if I have to work in retail for much longer. |

Saturday, March 31, 2007 12:50:04 PM I heard about this on the new as well. What circuit city is doing is stupid. The workers should go on strike or boycott or something, they shouldnt let themselves get stepped on like thiss. |

Saturday, March 31, 2007 11:51:21 AM I don't even think I know anyone who shops at Circuit City. Their selection of pretty much anything is really pooty, and Best Buy generally has lower prices anyway. They're like the K Mart of electronics stores. |

Saturday, March 31, 2007 11:23:37 AM elroy72, you are not a very careful reader. She had been working at circuit city for 10 years when they stopped offering a pension plan but had worked for the company another 12-odd years after that for a total of 22 years. |
