'Low pay, poor prestige, and less-than-haute cuisine'

that's what got it in there in the first place. obviously it seems reasonable to them that it should be removed from the dictionary without them changing any of those things. who are they trying to fool anyway? id rather eat my own limbs and be poor than work at mcdonalds.

Why does mcdonalds want it taken out? They don't want people to know the truth. Fast food workers need to unionize and demand higher wages. Just because its low skill doesn't mean you don't work your freakin ass off. Long hours. They make soooo much money yet give its workers chump change.

So basically what I am saying, they should get over it.

Maybe if they didn't suck so much, the word wouldn't even exist.

McDick's sucks.

I really have no prestige or room for advancement. And now that minimum wage was increased, my hours were cut. What douchebags. I hate McDonald's with a burning passion.

There's no point them attacking the OED. It's just there to catalogue the words people use.
If it weren't in the dictionary, and someone read/heard the word in a newspaper article/radio programme etc. but didn't know its meaning, the OED would be failing them by not supplying it.
McDonald's will just have to face that it'll be in there until people stop using it. Which could be long after they stop associating McD's with rubbish working conditions. (should that ever happen!)

They're the victims of their own catchy prefix, but they're the once who 'catchified' it by using it everywhere: Big Mac, McChicken Sandwich, Chicken McNuggets.... Own fault, really!

I had never heard of that word before.
I hope that I never become one of the people that work there, I'd rather live in a box.
I also hope that I never become one of the people who eat there.
Everyone's so mad at McDonald's why don't they stop eating there so that McDonald's will just go out of business.

"From the point of view of the fast-food proletariat, the reason for the McLanguage offensive is clear: The word McJob, as the OED definition makes clear, is "depreciative." It goes on to define the term as: "An unstimulating, low-paid job with few prospects, esp."

So why should they remove it then if it's true?

i googled for dictionary and searched for mjob and found directly here it is:

McJob is slang for a low-paying, low-prestige job that requires few skills and offers very little chance of intracompany advancement. Such jobs are also known as contingent work. The term McJob comes from the name of the fast-food restaurant McDonald's, but is used to describe any low-status job, regardless of who the employer is, where little training is required, and where workers' activities are tightly regulated by managers. Most perceived McJobs are in the service industry, particularly fast food, coffee shops, and retail sales. Working at a low paying job, especially one at a fast food restaurant, is also often referred to as flipping burgers.

It's demeaning towards McDonalds, and I don't really think there should be any "official" words that insult a company. I find it different from a swear word in the fact that this is used... indirectly. It isn't just some way to insult a company, it's a word that can be used to describe anything, and whenever it is used, it is also an insult to McDonalds. Not saying if McDonalds is good or bad, I just don't think a definition should come from an insult of a company.

So let me get this straight...people should be proud to work at McDonald's? Maybe as a summer job it's ok, but not as a career.
