you can tell she didn't even know what she was saying...she wasn't sure which word was the bad word until mom told her. then she understood..."ohhhh" so cute!

That has nothing to do with bad parenting...it's just a cute kid learning what is correct to say.
She is so cute!!! (it sounds like she's saying "ask" anyway!)

If you need to spank a 3 year old to stop her from saying a mild swear word, then I think your parenting skills leave something to be desired. The mother let her have a few moments of fun with it, and then told her in a reasonable voice that she shouldn't really say it. The child responded immediately - she obviously has a lot of respect for her mother and listens to her. I think that's pretty good parenting - better than some examples I see of mothers screaming their lungs out in the street to a child who has obviously learned to tune her out long ago.

And so, she filmed it. Well, why not? It was funny. I agree with KGirl somewhat - the only thing i'd be concerned about is posting it on the internet.

i feel like the people who think this mother is a bad parent for laughing at her cute kid probably dont have kids of their own, or if they do theyre being too strict at such a young age. you really think this little girls notions of the word ass are so defined by this one little thing? come on, it was cute and thats why the mom was laughing. i also feel like people who dont like little kids are obviously not considerate enough to their parents who went through the hardship of raising them.. lol jeez these comments prove the internet does indeed give a voice to some angry loney people who never got a hug. lighten up!

she was adorable..
that was funny..

her mom shouldn't have laughed about it cause that makes her think it's funny & she should repeat it for another laugh..
man parents these days don't think.

You all have changed my mind. Beating a three year old for saying "ass" is way better than what the mom did. I say beat her bloody! Then cut off her hands. That will teach her. Cut out her tounge too! Then she can't say ass ever again.

I think some of you guys are missing the point of this... the little kid is smart for her age.. is knows that a monster would harm her, so she is going to beat him/her to the punch line... smart 3 year old with a great imagination... most kids her age lack that ability.... thats what makes it funny.

I find the girl very cute, and I think it's commendable for a three year old to have that sort of attitude toward monsters. The mother handled it well. At that age, children really don't know much of what they're saying, and they try out just about every word that they hear. As long as her mother prevents her from saying it now, there is time for her to learn WHY in the future. The only part I disagree with is posting a video of a child online. Other than that, I like it.

12 years olds who thinks it's fun to swear because they aren't supposed to and you get kids who can think. If the child doesn't understand it at 3 a parent can keep repeating the why and the child will understand when they are older. But then again I don't know any 3 year olds so I actually know if that would work. It's just my theory after being around people who swear because people always tell them not to.

"Well I think the kid is having a hard enough time pronouncing a 1 syllable word, but if you want to teach her a psychology class about her variable thought process which ultimately leads to her decisions of right or wrong and will affect the world though the chaos theory then be my guest. And just when you ask if she has any questions after the lesson, she'll say "you look funny, can you dance?" Leading you to the conclusion, you have no clue what you're talking about."

I never meant people should teach a psychology lesson to a 3 year old, I meant parents should explain why not to say such a thing. Parents could say "if you said kick their ass to someone how would that make them feel." Then kids learn why such language offends people and will decide not to use it. If someone says kick a monsters ass it doesn't hurt anyone because monsters are not real so I don't see why parents worry if their children say the word in that context. This way you don't get

Thats really cute, but its still not appropriate for a 3 year old.. The mom was somewhat encouraging it by laughing, and has a lac of parenting skills as she let her kid hear that word somewhere.. Still cute though :)

Even though the mom didnt yell like u wanted her too. She stopped laughing and told her daughter seriously that it wasnt a good word and the girl stopped laughing too and stopped smiling so i think she understood well enough.

Seriously Maelstrom, you have no clue about parenting at all, do you? Do you really think a 3 yr old and a 16 yr old would be disciplined the same way, NO you jackass... One has nothing to do with the other. Being stern and harsh with a 3 yr old just for saying "Ass" isn't going to help! The kid is THREE!! She doesn't even know that it's a bad word, so being harsh isn't necessary. She only needed to be told it was a bad word and as soon as she was told, she understood!
