I used to love Family Guy...But something just has failed with it recently.So I hope Carol wins this one. Maybe it'll knock some sense into the creators of Family Guy, or it'll just get the show off the air. |

I hope she wins. Carol Burnett is a comedy legend. I used to watch her show when it aired on the WB, and I can honestly say it was one of the funniest shows I have ever seen.I've seen people on here saying that they don't understand why she's suing Family Guy when she had a show that did parodies. There's a difference between her kind of parody and FG's. FG uses real people (sometimes without their permission) and makes a lot of sexual jokes. Carol Burnett used fictional characters that everyone could relate to and put them in clean, humorous situations. That's another thing that I hate about Family Guy. One thing Carol Burnett prided herself on was that her show was accessible to EVERONE, including children. She kept her show clean and made sure that she didn't offend anyone. So having Family Guy, a show that tries to be funny by making jokes of a degrading and often vulgar nature, put her in a porn shop is an incredibly disrespectful action, and a childish one as well. Go Carol! |

I'm so sick of this trend that seems to be emerging in America where people seem to think that if they don't like something it should be gotten rid of. If you don't like it, change the channel. Just because you can't figure out a remote control doesn't mean you deserve 6 million dollars, Carol Burnett. |

From what I understand, anytime you make a likeness of anyone, you need their permission. That was clearly a slam on Carol Burnett, and she did have a right to sue. Has anyone heard of that bar that made likenesses of George Wendt (Norm Peterson) & John Ratzenberger (Cliff Clavin) of Cheers? I guess the owner of the bar made statues of these guys and had them sitting on bar stools at the end of the bar. Well, I guess George & John found out about it and sued the owners of the bar. Why? Not because they are in need of money, but because they are their likenesses. They wanted some kind of royalty for the use of their characters. As far as I know, the owner ended up taking the statues down. I honestly don't blame John & George for doing this. |

First of all, Carol Burnett had a show that did parodies. What?!Secondly, they weren't poking fun of her being out of money. One of her characters, as it says in the article, was a janitor, which is what they were referencing. And come on, this is parody. Parody is protected speech. Weird Al Yankovic doesn't have to ask permission to remake a song as a parody (he does it out of courtesy). If he can just change some of the lyrics and get away with it, Family Guy can change the theme somewhat from Carol Burnett's show and be fine. She had every right. Usually, I couldn't care less about celebrity lawsuits, but I side with Carol on this one. I never watched Family Guy and never will for the same reason I don't watch South Park. It's total garbage and I have a little more taste than to watch any of it. I don't blame her for not wanting to be associated with it. |

The way copyright law works, is that for it to be enforced, you as the holder must demonstrate defense of the copyright. By not doing so, you lose control over it.She'd be making a precedent by not filing suit. That's how the game works. |

Fox has put out a lot of crappy stuff, but Family Guy has to be at the top of the list for sh*t shows.
Maybe others will take their cue from Carol Burnett and sue Fox every time they show Family Guy and maybe get it off the air forever. |
