Since when are serious issues a laughing matter? Maybe for the lot of you who haven't had people like that in your life it's all sorts of sh-ts and giggles, but for anyone who's had anything remotely similar to that happen there's nothing funny about it at all.
I know it's a mockery of people who cry wolf all the time, but even the people crying 'wolf' to suicide are 'crying for help'. Often it's just in the wrong place. Everyone who finds that funny (and sadly, I'm including people I often respect in this group) needs to re-evaluate their own levels of compassion for other people. There's a whole lot of areas of gray in here where 'ok, it's a good mockery' vs 'that was awful'... but people should seriously leave that stuff alone. Go ahead and tell me to 'lighten up' but frankly, I can't ignore the world's problems and pretend everything is peachy. I have a respect for myself and everyone else that prevents that. Find yours. |
