It is illegal to deface any mint in the United States. High school lessons are exceptions, but you'd be stupid to start mass producing gold pennies in your home. End of story. |

i just did this a couple of weeks ago in my chem class and still have the penny. :) Make sure to have either a new penny or clean it with steel wool or else it will be sorta gunky looking rather than clean gold |

ooo wow that's just so awesome. psht whatever. Yeah this is real stuff, I did this earlier this year in Chemistry. If y'all try that though, don't rub the silver (zinc) ones too much, cause that takes the zinc off. But yeah. Cool that someone posted this. AND it's not illegal to do this, my teacher even said, it's just illegal to use them as anything more than a penny. |
