it's so funny the way everybody thinks having a convict history is somehow insulting to Aussies. its not that big a deal, everybody just makes up some story about it, like a robin Hood/Ned Kelly sort of thing to make their ancestors out to be good guys.Wallaby Humper - the wallaby, or 'wallaby track' referrs to bush roads or animal trails, places humans don't usually travell along. Humper or Humpy can be stuff carried on your back, like a back pack, so its more about a swagman or backpacker going bush and living on the road more than anything else |

And I must add that the one that pissed me off most (marginally) may have been "Pepiczek", because...well, go to This Link.
It's about a play called Brundibar (click "Other Versions--a production from my hometown was featured--entitled Brundibar:Hear My Voice. I was in the chorus.) Anyway the main character's name is Pepiczek.

Oh. My. God. I CANT F***ING BELIEVE THAT ALL YOU PEOPLE CAN SAY IS, "THOSE LITTLE BEANERS SHOULD BE SHOT". I CANT BELIEVE YOU HAVE SUNK THAT LOW! And those of you who aren't offended...that either means you're smart or stupid. Can't decide. But probably smart. I'm Jewish (or rather, I am converting to Judaism, so I guess I'm...almost Jewish?) and Irish and American and Caucasian so I had a lot to be offended by. I can't figure out if I am or not but I'm not entirely sure being offended would represent insecurity so much as disgust. But this is disgusting and sorry to be a party pooper but I'm going to be the first bit of negative feedback here. SORRY ABOUT THAT, but at least I have not sunk as low as these slurs. |
