listen to elroy, who needs another program to slow down your computer when you can just tweak what you already have. |

Tuesday, October 03, 2006 11:07:29 AM ^^^You can install plenty of things and just turn off the crap you don't need at startup...I have over 400gig of hd space and about 340-350 of that is full of games/other software...and this bad boy still moves like the day I built it. |

Tuesday, October 03, 2006 8:50:31 AM Go to Control Panel> Administartive Tools> Services: Disable all the services you don't need, ALOT of them are fine on manual start. Then, if there's a program running you don't, I mean, after that, just end task it. MSCONFIG is good, but its not as descriptive as the 'Service' console when it comes to, well, services, duh.

Tuesday, October 03, 2006 2:08:30 AM the last time i got something for my comp that was supposed to 'help improve performance' (they were supposedly video codecs, btw) i got the agent smith of viruses...it bugged me every 30 seconds or so about how i had spyware and viruses, etc. and told me to get this companies program to save my comp from destruction. NO PROGRAM COULD FIND IT!!! it was either convert or die. in the end, i had to re-install windows and lose everything. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT INSTALL VIDEO CODECS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!! IF A VIDEO CANNOT PLAY, UPGRADE YOUR MEDIA PLAYER, OR RISK LOSING EVERYTHING!!! |

Monday, October 02, 2006 9:41:22 PM I'm glad some people are educated enough to use MSCONFIG. This link clearly shows that some folks clearly need to learn more about their PC before they are allowed to operate it. B-| |

Monday, October 02, 2006 6:51:56 PM that looks a lot like a more rushed, less descriptive version of what elroy72 already said, samusman. |

Monday, October 02, 2006 6:39:12 PM ...Go to the run command, type msconfig, hit enter, look around the tabs, and you will find a very similar built in utility. |
