Thursday, September 21, 2006 4:52:18 AM Y'know, Sprinkz, I suspect you're calling people retarded just for the fun of it. I've watched this a few times and it is clearly live-action (so to speak). |

Wednesday, September 20, 2006 1:49:35 AM I am consistently amazed by the arguments I find on here. If only I weren't sorta buzzed by vodka, I'd say something really clever here.Look, personal opinion is everyone's guide. Vindicate believes commercials like this one turn women into sex objects. She's not wrong; it happens all the time, has happened in the past, and likely will continue for Eric Clapton knows how long. Sabre200000 and his wife believe a woman's sexuality is powerful and reassuring, regardless of it being used in a commercial for a crummy TV show ripoff. They aren't wrong either; women should be proud of being sexual people. But I suppose context is everything. The when and where is most important. ^ was any of that clever? I can't tell. |

Monday, September 18, 2006 7:58:30 PM Lochness-Abs.."Shut up." You're a sorry excuse for an insulter. Get some new lines and maybe we'll talk. I've heard better insults from a block of wood. So maybe you should stick to your old ways, and give insults to 5 year olds, at least they'll cry. And trust me, if I was bi...i'd know it. And probably have dated someone of my own sex...Which I have not...and I wouldn't have been with the same guy for almost a year which comes to the conclusion that, you don't know sh*t about me and never will and you need to think before you open your mouth

Monday, September 18, 2006 11:09:09 AM Vindicate my wife would kick your a** if she ran into you, lol. She can't stand whiney "woman are oppressed by sexual advertising and anything physical that is there for entertainment" people like you. I showed her your comments and she laughed at them. (by the way she is a 4 year graduate pharmacist, so she's not some dumb blonde) She says there is nothing better than the days when she can surprise me in lingerie or something silly, but sexy. It makes her feel like a "woman" and is greatly powerful both emotionally and sexually. So take that as what it is, you're just an uptight prude...and a young one at that, who taught you this "old" way of seeing things...prob don't think for yourself. too bad :)

Sunday, September 17, 2006 12:29:31 PM You're joking, right, sprinkz?Yout think some 3rd rate show like that would put the money and effort into making a scene that complex with CG models so life like when they already had two versions of those characters for the show? |

Sunday, September 17, 2006 11:39:35 AM Has no one realized yet that these 'women' ARE COMPUTER GENERATED?ralmfao, they are CG girls, look at their eyes and their unnatural movements at the beginning, notice how they never get terribly close? I just hope everyone realized this, because some of you sound seriously retarded by calling them real. |

Sunday, September 17, 2006 11:33:50 AM It was Mary-Ann biased. I'm not complaining. Vindicate, lighten up. It's not geared to all men, it's geared to most straight men who ...and who like seeing the female form. In hot pants. With cream... If you don't, everyone else will know what that says about you.

Sunday, September 17, 2006 1:23:11 AM Well, I don't know what demographic most ads go for, but, for example, I doubt we'll ever see a sexy advert for a fiber diet supplement or Depends undergarments. I think mostly we see them on products geared toward a young, money-spending population. That being the case, sex. As for the disparity between men as sex objects and women, I don't condone either, but, I certainly see both. How many times recently have you seen Matthew McConnehey's (sp) chest and guns on magazine covers? How many ads for soap operas are on during the day that are geared toward women? It is wrong to reduce men and/or women to objects, but, it obviously works because that's what these companies are about--money. And if there was no money in it, they wouldn't do it. Bottom line. |

Sunday, September 17, 2006 12:26:29 AM I find that I agree with Vindicate in that it can certainly be demeaning to a person's character by appearing to be no more than a nice bod. I guess the one rift I find is that, as each and every person on this planet has a vast array of complexity to them, I'd wager that it would be much more difficult to make someone's character as appealing in a mere 30 second promo. As to the whole Ginger/Mary Ann debate, it seems to me as though that promo had gone as far as to decide for us. It was very Mary Ann-based, wasn't it? |
