Wednesday, August 02, 2006 8:40:41 AM Clever idea but what if some of the generators stop working or are faulty? They'd have to dig them back up to fix them, perhaps causing major roadworks and traffic jams. |

Tuesday, August 01, 2006 10:33:02 PM thats a cool idea, but i dont know if it can be worth it in the long run to buy and maintain a vibration generator *giggles at the name* just to power up the local walgreens |

It actually would make it very slightly more difficult to walk, the more energy you harvest. But harvesting it at a very low level, you probably won't notice too much difference. |

Tuesday, August 01, 2006 3:12:32 PM as always, some of you continue to question scientists about problems that they just might have thought about during their MONTHS or YEARS of working on their research. give me a break. i think they know what they're doingcool idea though, if they got it in NYC, it would be perfect, or pretty much anywhere in China

Tuesday, August 01, 2006 10:38:54 AM along these same lines...i always thought they should turn wheels on cars into alternators...all that mechanical energy just being wasted when it could be turned into electrical energy |

Tuesday, August 01, 2006 3:54:17 AM bobbyier, these sensors would be embedded in the street surface after a speed bump, so there will not be any extra energy loss. |

Tuesday, August 01, 2006 3:45:49 AM ya know with all the fat people here in the US, and all the people who are making their kids fat, we can probably create enough energy to run a large city, maybe even the world. |

Tuesday, August 01, 2006 3:23:13 AM Good idea but, it will be pretty difficult to make it actually work and harvest those 5 to 7 watts per footstep. You can't have peolple walking over "vibration harvesters" so they have to be embedded in some sort of new tiles or floor covering. Those tiles will also absorb energy. Why don't they install them after speed bumps in streets?? there will be much more energy released there..... |

Tuesday, August 01, 2006 2:33:37 AM Quite a good idea. But itll probably cost alllllloooooooooooooot to get it all over the world :p..Acctually, they should make this in Africa! All the elaphants and hippo's! Cheap electricity for them |
