Two things I've learned from Tae-Kwon-Do:
1.) Never just stand around and wait for the other kid to attack.
2.)Spinning Back Kicks are damn impressive.Did anyone else hear the guy taping say "That was nice!"? Apparently he didn't notice that the kid was lying unconcious on the ground. |

Kid was pretty quick, that's for sure. And, it was definitely full contact as opposed to light contact because they were being extra careful of one another before engaging (likely a competition verus sparring).Yeah, damn quick, but, he left himself super-vulnerable after the kick, so, quick, yes, but, when he misses one day and someone pops him in the back of the head a few times before he can even get up, he'll be more careful. Until then, he's king of the world. |

it IS pretty obvious that he didn't mean to kick the kid in the head like that, it kind of looked like they jumped at the same time and collided. ow. |

We already mentioned that it was a legal kick, but that he overdid it and could have seriously injured his opponent. It was an awesome kick, but he used too much power. |

I used to do Tae Kwon Do, and we were allowed to kick to the head. The only places we weren't allowed to kick was the back and below the waist... that kick wasn't a very hard (to do) one, but I have to say he did do it very fast. I've sparred people who fight like that before, and it's scary. that's just how some people fight. |

I agree with Billy-bawb that the kid needs to learn to control the force of his kicks. Granted, Tae Kwon Do is more violent than other types of martial art, but the main ideas of all martial arts are still 1) respect for others, 2) humility of self, 3) mastery of one's body. The main goal is to disable your opponent while doing as little damage as possible. This kid gets an F in all counts.Unless they were doing kick-boxing, but it didn't look like it. |
