Tuesday, February 28, 2006 10:01:09 AM I was not trying to rip this apart. I think this is a fantastic story and have forwarded it to many people. It is one of the best stories I've seen here.My only, ONLY, point is that it is wrong to think that this kid is a basketball "rainman" and would have racked up 3,000 point in a season if he played. That wasn't the point of the news piece, so that isn't what you should take away from it. Period. Sometimes some really wonderful things CAN happen in this f'ed up world. Can we just enjoy this one please.

Tuesday, February 28, 2006 9:46:28 AM Ffs people, get over it. This was posted as a nice heart-warming story and as per freakin usual, someones gotta come along and rip it apart. Could you's not have just looked at this and thought - that's pretty sweet that this guy waas given 4 minutes to play, and he made every second count. Or something like that. So what if they're was 'no defence' or if they 'werent trying' - point being, 20 points in 4 minutes is infreakinpressive, no matter if he was autistic or well defended or whatever. And no I don't know anything about sports but I still stand by it. K I'm done. |

Tuesday, February 28, 2006 9:36:41 AM That you d_w for coming to my defense.Help me out here, bigoldbagofhotair. You are coaching the opposing team. You're in last place, it's the last game of the season. 4 minutes left. You are down by, let's say, 30 points. The other team is putting in an obviously autistic young man, so he may have the thrill of his life. When he startes making a couple shots what are you gonna do, double or triple team him? Oh wait, let me guess, foul him!?! You should realize that this young man's moment may be just a tad bit more important than you pitiful win/loss record. Do us all a favor, if you have kids don't get involved with their sports life. You just don't/won't get it. Prick. |

Tuesday, February 28, 2006 8:56:49 AM ... BTW, I'm not defending the practice of not trying your hardest. Just saying, it happens. And, great story. |

Tuesday, February 28, 2006 8:54:52 AM ^ bigoldjeffry: You don't have to be a chicken to critique an omelet dude. And I've seen PLENTY of pro players in different sports NOT always play their hardest. PLENTY. Makes me wonder if you know what you're talking about, actually. Basketball, hockey, football... seen it everywhere. So, IMHO, I don't think ajax is stupid, gaped-mouthed moron. And perhaps you ought to look into decaf. |

Tuesday, February 28, 2006 8:53:53 AM It wasn't about winning or losing or if the other team guard him or not. It was about giving a special kid a chance to get in the game. it was kinda like the rudy movie.if he never get to play again atleast he has that memory

Tuesday, February 28, 2006 8:44:43 AM What kind of an ignorant, backwards, gaped-mouthed moron would say something like: "If it was a game that really mattered I think that the other team would actually guard him."Are you STUPID? I have to assume that you've never played sports. Because if you had, you'd know that it doesn't matter how far you are behind and it doesn't matter how late in the season the game is, you ignorant piece of garbage. You always play your hardest, idiot. That kid is amazing. Typically, jealous people will post things like, "Erm..no1 wuz garding him." Stupid idiots. That kid could outplay you any day of the year. |

Tuesday, February 28, 2006 8:28:55 AM Great great story! Really warms the heart. But lets be real. "wtf was the coach doing not playing him all season." This was the last 4 min. of the last game, so it prob. didn't mean much to either team. If it was a game that really mattered I think that the other team would actually guard him. I am not taking anything away from this kid though, on my best day on a completely open court I couldn't do that. |
