This could easily be made up.

My gripe isn't the "domestic spying" thing per se, but rather the going around the courts that are in place and not asking their permission. You know, that whole checks and balances thing? I'm all for protection, but, there's a specific court set up to grant the authority to listen in. Why if these numbers are all "from known terrorists" can't the administration simply ask the court for permission? The court had NEVER, not even once, turned down a request from the administration. So why go around it? That's what's at issue here, no the invasion of privacy or whatever.

My point exactly...

***But, if information is found they can and will use it to thwart an attack. Now I personaly don't think this is right, and it sucks that it has to come to this, and I am extreemly worried that the powers will be abused, I just don't know how to go about fixing it or comming up with something better.

If anyone has any Ideas feel free to let me know. ***

I don't KNOW what to do about it, and instead of just complaining, why can't we come up with something that will keep us safe and secure our rights??

They may or may not have stoped any attacks. The only problem is that it is like trying to "prove a negative", the only real way to know we stoped an attack is to kill or capture the suspects before or durring the attack.

Also from what I understand of the Patriot Act, it is specificaly designed to protect people. IF someone tries to covict you for something found under the patriot act, the judge will throw it out as unconstitutional.

But, if information is found they can and will use it to thwart an attack. Now I personaly don't think this is right, and it sucks that it has to come to this, and I am extreemly worried that the powers will be abused, I just don't know how to go about fixing it or comming up with something better.

If anyone has any Ideas feel free to let me know.

My comment about the news, I meant to say "at the moment". Because apparently right now they're saying it >_>
But hey. kudos to them, right?

I don't like Bush, but those who are saying that Bush isn't really protecting us don't realize that just because they don't exactly say all over the news WE STOPPED A TERRORIST ATTACK doesn't mean that they didn't actually stop it. And I think that what people think is "spying" or "invasion of privacy" isn't such a big deal. Honestly, they aren't that interested in an email to someone about your sex life.

Trivia Question: How many terrorist attacks occured in America 5 years after the 1993 trade center bombing? Were they bidding their time? Blind luck? Clinton's great leadership?

I think I've actually heard of several of these before...

Anyway, to those who think this is made up, how do you explain the fact that not one terrorist attack has occurred in the United States since 9/11/2001? Blind luck? The terrorists are "biding their time"? Please.

By the way, "domestic spying" is not the correct term to describe the wiretap program. Here's the way it works: When counterterrorism forces seize a terrorist's cell phone or raid a hideout and find computers, they copy the memory in the software and record the telephone numbers stored in the memory. These telephone numbers are wiretapped. That's it. Unless you have a buddy in Al-Qaeda, you have nothing to fear from the terrorist surveillance program.

Cool. I for one, believe them. Though i do doubt that all of the plots are as bad as they were made to sound.

I have no problem with domestic spying either. I got nothing to hide. They can look all they want. Just wasting their time.

Well...I guess I need to take a chill pill myself. Sorry for jumping down your throat.

I'll believe it when another country backs it up.
I wouldn't doubt the that the administration would lie through their teeth (Dem or Rep, they're all liars)

No. You need to take a dick-head pill. SpoonFork was obviously being sarcastic, you jumped down his throat, he apologized and then you try to make him out to be an idiot.

Get your finger off the trigger please.

How fortunate that since none of those attacks actually were attempted, there is no evidence whether or not they actually were ever planned.

That was sarcastic. Notice that I was being a hypocrite in my post. Sorry for the confusion.

Yep, that's us, SpoonFork, dumbasses who believe anything. Holy crap, I don't care WHO says it, liberal or conservative, if someone says, "Um, gee, I prevented this thing, in some place, where some guy was gonna use some stuff," then I'm going to say, bullpoo! And if that makes me hateful, then so be it!

Without any neutral sources backing any of this up, I can't say I feel very inclined to accept it.
