Ya, so a couple of posts already answered the song/artist question.

Anywho... this is not animated. Perhaps the song was redubbed over the digital file as you probably wouldn't have heard it come through as clear, but it is not only possible, it is very easy with the right equipment.

My wife used to work for High End Systems - a lighting company notable for the light shows associated with Metallica, as well as The Chemical Brothers. Prior to her leaving the company we procurred our own little C-16 Atmospheres kit. One of her friends, however, worked production and got a hold of a discontinued console (lower end Hog model). When this guy had parties, he had the Hog connected to several TechnoBeams around the house and could be sequenced up in about an hour's time. Sequencing less tech-savvy Christmas lights would be even easier. On/Off at the appropriate time. You'll notice the added touch of a dimmer sequence on the blue lights during the vocals.

Does anyone know any info about this? Any links?

If you look around 1:50 to 1:57 the (real) star seems to be moving back and forth and on and off. Maybe that's just resulution problems.

I'd like to see what they do for Halloween. Great, but hope they don't do it all night. It would drive me insane if it did.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but I really don't think that's a proper flashing light display...seems to me he just made a stop motion film after he took each picture of the lights on in different positions, and then just added the music in at the end.

I know the system that he used an i think i know who did it. his name is John Dagget and he is useing a MIDI system. The system controls smaller boxes that have xmas lights plugged into them. we used this system to do an effect on two 50-foot xmas trees for a christmas concert. and Taboopoison, he invented the system, so he can spend his money how ever damn well he wants!

TabooPoison writing that statement rather than doing something about it yourself. Nice.

it's real, please look at for 2 tips.. i know is not good resolution (internet video).

turret blinking light at left side

and bright star over the right side tree. if cut and paste to make animatios, those star need to move because photos are taken on diferent times.

Anyways.. i know how to do that in real.. not realy harder than a rock concert light FX, but still need a lot of work to syncro litghts with music, and some imagination to make the show a bit pretty.

And bill is not a problem... trust me... houses with more than 50.000 old type lights pay around 15 US$ night

This one is new high bright LED tech, comsumpt around 1/10 of the old type ones.... but need around 2x then bill is around 15/5= 3US$ night. the trick is keep them blinking.
