Friday, October 14, 2005 3:02:25 AM I can't believe how many people are saying, "Look at the standards today compared to this." Now that we know what cigarettes do it is unacceptable to show this. The commercials that we show today would be highly unacceptable back when this was aired. There are so many sexual innuendos today in commercials you can't watch any station without seeing one. This isn't half as bad compared to what we see on TV today. |

Monday, October 10, 2005 8:17:47 PM as for why intelligent people smoke, i started smoking at about 15 years old, coz of peer pressure being cool whatever... what happens is you get a physical and physcological addiction to nicotine. and even if you are athletically inclined smoking will eventually take its toll. i smoked for 20 years before giving them up for good.trust me it is rEALLY HARD to quit. i regret smoking for so long now and take every free moment to exercise, eat well, and get outdoors.

Monday, October 10, 2005 4:15:23 PM you realy should get some of the OLD cartoons you would be shocked to see some of the things that went on, not just smoking : superman and his war time antics, popeye smokes all the time over half his cartoons cant be shown today, bugs bunny and the racism (when cartoon network did the "junebugs" thing to show all the bugs bunny cartoons they had to leave out something around 150 cartoons due to to the things shown that would get you sued today.hell when was the last time any one has seen a "Heckel & Jeckel" cartoon?? (for those of you who dont know that was the two crows who walked with a hop) |

Monday, October 10, 2005 3:29:16 PM It's not fake. I knew about this, and apparently the company that made the Flintstones did not make this, in fact, they didn't know about it until it was aired!!! |

Monday, October 10, 2005 9:42:21 AM i can understand this ad back in the 60's, as it has already been noted, at that time they were not noted to cause any health problems, knowing what we do not, i cannot understand why so many people still smoke. i know very intellegent people, who have great plans for their lives, ye still smoke a pack + every day. i cannot see the intellegence in this. why spend so much money? thats alone would keep me from smoking. then there ate the proven health effects that are experienced by smokers. IMO smokers cannot cope with reality, and thus need an outlet. i say do something productive with yourself, instead of slowly killing youself and those around you. |

Sunday, October 09, 2005 10:19:59 PM freakyppl, I agree completely. I always said that they should give people a year to quit, and if they didn't do it, mass execute anyone who didn't. And that includes half my family. I am harshly against smoking. |

Sunday, October 09, 2005 9:17:13 PM Wow, and I thought product placement was bad in todays shows. While on the topic, I recently saw an old "Victor Borge" (a piano comedian) show from the 50's and every second scetch he did was about the car that sponsored the show (think it was a pontiac). No way viewers today would put up with that amount of advertising. |
