I dunno how crazy u all are, but its perty true, teh parents also stay close to teh son if tehy do split up, i think its that girls are just very dramatic... stressful |

My theory is that in MOST cases, if a marriage is doomed to fail, it was doomed from the beginning.If something like the gender of a child contributes so greatly to whether a marriage fails or succeeds, then the couple didn't try hard enough. |

well, i want a daughter, not a son...cuz girls are cute as babys...and i don't care about the teen years of girls...if i get a divorce, it will be because me and my husband are completely uncompatible, and my daughter will have nothing to do with it |

I'm not sure about this whole divorce theory. But I definately agree that fathers generally prefer having boys over girls -- not just because they are more likely to do "guys" stuff together, but because girls are predisposed to causing as much chaos as possible for every man in their lives! |

SamoDaJerbal -lolkatbenedario - I disagree. Are you tryin to say all blokes fancy their daughters? So therefore it's mostly the blokes fault when a marriage breaks down. It comes down to either the parents realised they don't love each other or shouldn't have got married in the first place. Nothing to do with the kids and I'm angry with anyone that thinks otherwise. For the record - my parents have been happily married for 24 years now, so there is no personal angst here |

I disagree with katbenedario; in claiming that the reason for most divorces is a sexual desire between the father and a daughter. Thats simply opinion, particularly claiming 85% of the population has this problem and is untreated of it, as there is no real research of fact to back that up. In truth Divorce is simply caused by rushing into marriage and an unwillingness to work out problems. People just feel its easier to give up. |

I don't think the article is saying that girls cause divorce, but rather that parents are more willing to work through their problems with a son in the family. The cause of the divorce/problems may be wholly unrelated to the kids. |
