Wednesday, June 01, 2005 12:14:58 PM Again, ShaggyR, I must remark. Your first point is grammatically arguable, especially due to minor differences in English in different countries. Now, I'M telling you, because YOU do not know, an eagle has the ability to sever multiple digits from you hand with on slash of it's talons. Oh, object to the high heavans if you wiil, but then ask Scott. I met him while on holiday four years ago, he handles birds of prey (including eagles). And guess what? He had an accident with one while giving it a booster. Now Scott types a little slower as he lost a thumb and two fingers. So don't tell me something as fact while putting me down for ignorance, when the case it quite the reverse. Crowe |

Tuesday, May 31, 2005 1:42:21 AM CroweFirst, you'll notice that I used the word "nails" only when making a common comparative statement to both the cat and the bird together...when speaking of the bird alone I used the word talons. Second, I'm glad you agree with my Lee/Seagal comparison. And third, I'm telling you (because you obviously don't know) that when standing still and extending a leg forward an eagle generates very little power. If it got airborne before the cat attacked, then yes it would rip the cat to shreds. However, the argument here is based on the two fighting on foot...which I can guarantee you would result in one dead eagle. |

Monday, May 30, 2005 3:44:39 PM ShaggyR, first, not 'nails', the term is 'talons' for birds. Second, I have to agree with you on the Seagal / Lee comparisom. Third, picture this. You are trapped in a room with a vicious, hungry eagle. It attacks you. You fight. You managed to kill it. You have extensive gashes that are inches deep. You suffer and posiibly die from bloodloss. Same scenario, but with a cat. You fight and kill without much difficulty escaping with minor cuts to your arms and hands. You live a happy life with just two faint scars. The eagle has a crushing power enough to make your head burst like in the third Alien film. Lastly, 'in order to use its talons that eagle would have to lie on its back', do you feel you must lie upon your back if you are to kick anything? What about if you had the ability to make yourself airbourne? Crowe |

Monday, May 30, 2005 9:34:27 AM And just out of curiosity.. Who said that this was a deck? I realize that the animals are on a railing of some sort but does that necessarily make it a deck? I doubt that this is photoshopped. |

Monday, May 30, 2005 5:11:42 AM Heh. If it's photoshopped I don't care. Even if something is photoshopped you don't need to shout 'photoshopped' at it. Just enjoy the humour etc. Anyway if they had a fight they'd probably rip each other apart and neither would win. |

If you determine that the bird wins simply because it has longer nails, then you are an idiot. That's like saying Steven Seagal would have beaten Bruce Lee because Seagal had longer limbs and bigger muscles. Lee would have torn Seagal to pieces...just like a vicious cat could kill an eagle if they fought on level ground. Think about it...in order to use it's talons that eagle would have to lay on it's back...if it stood there it would have no force whatsoever behind it. Those talons are awesome when moving at 200mph...but at a standstill? Cats are way better fighters. That eagles head would be missing if it fought on two feet against soe of the cats in my neighborhood. |

Sunday, May 29, 2005 4:56:07 PM Right, I feel kinda like I'm setting everyone to rights. First, the picture is untampered with unless a professional (the type of person who is paid alot to do so) has spent several weeks on it. There are full details including reflection, correct fur/feather light distortions, slight focus differences, etc. Second, the cat has a uniform curve to it's tail, no offensive fur bristling/tail tip flicking/back arching. The cat is curious and concerned. As for the eagle, it is arched with head bowed ready for flight if it has to. The eagle is also concerned, but not so curious. It has recently eaten a moderately sized kill, probably a small rodent, as it's crop bulges slightly. Birds are vunerable just after feeding as flight is inhibited by the extra weight and the food begining to digest requires energy tiring the bird somewhat. The eagle would rather fly away than waste energy on a kill it does not need. And yes, the eagle would win. Simply compare cat claw and eagle talon sizes. Crowe |

Sunday, May 29, 2005 2:49:19 AM If the eagle even cared, the cat would be gone long ago. It must be trained or something. Or just not hungry. |
