I've slept on no-mans-land between Finland and Russia (then Soviet Union..). It`s a 5km zone between the two countries (width varies) where you aren`t suppose to go.. A bit different than the "border" between Finland and Sweden, which is just theoretical line that you can cross at will..

@worldofjames im sorry too dude. its not like it used to be. i remember when i was a little kid (this wouldve been sometime in the 90s) going to niagra falls and at one point my dad just suddenly telling me we were in america now. no border people or anything checking our passports. things really changed after 9/11.

WorldOfJames: As an American, I'll apologize for our northern border security. They seem irrational and heavy handed even when our own people try to get on a plane. Why our northern border gets overly watched and our southern one is virtually ignored, in many places, is beyond me.
Hopefully you weren`t too sullied on the experience and come back to visit.
