Anime on the car is Neon Genesis Evangelion, which is a pretty good mecha anime imho. Im not into anime really, just watched this one and a couple other series.

Hell, there are 3 in Dallas alone!

A-Kon was the first I went to, then I heard about AnimeFest. Unfortunately the lines just to get IN to A-Kon have become insane. Last time I went I had to wait 4 hours, I didn't pre-register though but I heard even those patrons had to endure comparable agony. At this point I`ve figured until they start mailing those passes I`m not even going to bother. I like AnimeFest a lot more, doesn`t draw quite the numbers, but just enjoyable and even lasts longer (4 days to A-Kon`s 3). I liked it so much I`ve even pre-reg`d for IT!

(Geez I might as well be on Yelp!)... :p

@chalket and @aubernjunky and @CodeJockey:

I'm referring to the "stereotype" of a "typical Texan" not the reality I know there`s anime fans everywhere!

We finally have an "Anime Convention" in my home town! We`ve had Sci-Fi and comics conventions for decades, as well as:
Folklorama! The longest running festival of it`s kind in the world!

I am totally looking forward to the anime fest

Texas has at least a dozen annual conventions. Hell, there are 3 in Dallas alone! (DallasComicCon, A-Kon, and AnimeFest)

There are more than 26 million people in Texas, don't you think there`d be some anime fans? I`m a bit surprised at your prejudice. I suppose you think we all wear 10-gallon hats and ride horses to work, too?

"Not something you'd expect to see in Texas, eh?"

Not something you`d expect to hear from a self-proclaimed huge anime fan, eh?

One of the bigger US players in anime, Funimation, is in Ft Worth, Texas.

The oldest continually-running anime convention in the US, A-Kon, is hosting it`s 25th annual this June.
