How in hell did the incoming tide destroy footprints in rock?! Better question: how in hell do you MAKE footprints in rock? Well, first you make footprints in limestone sand (ground-up seashells). Then the sand hardens to form limestone rock. Then the rock sinks below sea level. Then the waves come in carrying suspended particles which, given 7500 years, can grind away the footprints.
