I used to volunteer for the Minnesota Opera.. One nice thing they do is project subtitles so you can understand what people are singing. Increases the enjoyment of an opera exponentially.

@ David, I'm with ya. You have to wade through 2 1/2 hours of boring stuff but somewhere in there is 3 minutes of really nice stuff. Madame Butterfly is the same way.

God I hate opera... but that piece may be an exception. Anyway, why does opera and modern art get to be "culture" when Metallica and Norman Rockwell were just as talented, if not more so?

Joan Sutherland was great but my favorite soprano to sing along with was Kiri Te Kanawa. In high school, I used to sing along with her to learn how to sing the popular soprano solos. My voice teacher couldn't believe the before and after when I started this technique to learn how to sing. Thanks, Kiri!
