Rob, the story of the Monkey King, or just "Monkey," has been the subject of who knows how many books, operas, TV series, movies, plays, anime, manga, even video games, since the original Ming Dynasty novel cited by Ogen.

Stephen Chow's latest, "Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons" is a prequel to the Monkey legend, and back in the 90`s he starred in Jeffrey Lau`s "A Chinese Odyssey," yet another take on the story. In the 60`s, The Shaw Brothers made a series of films based on "Journey to the West."

Hell, even the Sci-Fi Channel did a mini-series based on characters from the Monkey legend called "The Lost Empire."

@RobSwindol Yeah bro. The Forbidden Kingdom toats has the copyright to the ancient myth of the Monkey King.

Just like how Disney has the rights to all the Greek Gods because of their 1997 classic Hercules.

I'm surprised Lionsgate Entertainment hasn`t sued the author of Journey Into the West (which this movie is based on) which was written in 1592.

God bless you Rob. For you`re knowledge of what is a rip off and what isn`t. May you teach us all.

What exactly makes this "epic"?

Is it the terrible special effects?

Maybe it's the monkey king rip off from "The Forbidden Kingdom"?

Or perhaps the terrible costumes?

Hmmm... I wonder.
