Eh, I live in California and the pizza place I love isn't too close. I prefer their service because they`re always prompt, well groomed, most are in their late 20s, friendly but not too friendly, and most importantly the pie`s delicious. So I always tip 3 for each pizza and 3 for gas. I tip for the pizza online and hand `em three bucks and say for gas when they get here. If it`s hot out I offer a bottle of water. If it`s a Holiday I order the day before or at least add two more bucks to the gas tip.
I figure if I`m only ever gonna order from them I`d best have a good relationship.

1. They make minimum wage just like everyone else, if the employee does not make enough in tips to cover the credit, the employer must pay the difference. 2.If the employer does not pay for mileage, it is tax deductible. Even if the employer pays for mileage it might still be tax deductible.

"Yes, they only get a few dollars an hour. This guy said it was $4, it at least used to be less. It may vary by state, but I remember friends getting $2.35/hour before tips. It sucks, but most people do make a decent wage from the tips. Unless they do a horrible job of course."
