His political group, the African National congress, is still to this day on the Terror watch list @AuburnJunky: I heard that Bush took the ANC off the list, since so many South African politicians were or had been members and it was a diplomatic nightmare... I think it was 2003?
It's very true: Mandella backed a LOT of very radical militant groups, like the PLO! Overt terrorism was, in his mind, a good thing! After all, it`s what HE himself had done!
Hey, at least he was consistent.
@SmagBoy1: I`m sure that when Bush SUGGESTED (that`s all the PotUS can do) lowering the flag for the Pope`s death? LOTS of government institutions did NOT do so.

SmagBoy1-"It's not the words coming out of Republican mouths that are racist"
Oh, you mean like: "A few years ago, He (Barack Obama) would have been getting us coffee." (oh yeah, that was Bill Clinton) "Mahatma Gandhi ran a gas station down in Saint Louis." (oops, that was Hillary) "Blacks and Hispanics are too busy eating watermelons and tacos to learn how to read and write." (oops, Mike Wallace, CBS News) "You f*cking Jew b@stard." (oops, Hillary again) "I`ve seen a lot of white n*ggers in my time." (Klansman and Democrat US Senator Robert Byrd) "White folks was in the caves while we was building empires"-Sharpton

Yitzhak Rabin = Huge American Ally. Winston Churchill = Huge American Ally Pope John Paul = The freaking POPE!
Mandela = an amazing individual, who did great things for black people in his country. Also, a staunch anti-American and a supporter of Sadaam Hussein. His political group, the African National congress, is still to this day on the Terror watch list, and he is an admitted supporter of Communism.
