What does elk taste like? (Please don't say elk!). The only elk I`ve ever had came from a large bull, so it wasn`t as tender as a smaller bull or cow would have been. It`s not as tender as beef (although it might be if you kept one in a feedlot for a few weeks). IMO the flavor is closer to beef than it is to venison which tends to be more gamey, but the texture is similar to venison.

"...Well that's stupid, it clearly wasn`t trying to hurt him..."
Uh yeah, until rutting season.
Ever been near an adult male elk or moose in rut, probably not because you are around to tell me no. If it isn`t wary of humans now, it won`t during rut, and when they are they`ll kill you for looking at them funny.

@Nickel, More beefy than deer but I think it varies on region and diet. Like a Midwestern elk will probably have more corn in it's diet and probably won`t be as gamy as an elk from the Rockies.
