@CrakrJak

But for most areas of your country, you DON'T have the right to build anything you please.

And remember me pointing out how crowded our country is? Such socialist concepts tend to emerge in these circumstances, where getting along with your fellow man is a necessity that trumps your personal desire to act like as big a tit as you please.

Musuko: "Where you got this idea that it's an "inalienable right" to build what you like I just don`t know."

It`s called American freedom. I`m sorry you haven`t the freedoms we have. Apparently you`re used to the socialist leash around your neck.

If this were in the US imagine what the Euros would be saying about such an abuse of laws and waste of material, time and money......instead they justify it.

If it's not up to code fine them for it and make them get it up to code.

Someone is trying to enforce demolition simply because they can.
They don't have to. It`s more sensible simply to reassess his property value and move on.

The reason why it's not a fine rather than tear it down is to avoid the super rich just throwing money at laws in order to circumvent them.

@CrakrJak

This is the UK. We are MASSIVELY more densely-populated than most of the USA. It`s simply not possible to go with a "do what you like" attitude to construction without turning our lovely country into a coast-to-coast urban sprawl.

Building regulations and zoning have been with us for a long, long time, including in your country. Where you got this idea that it`s an "inalienable right" to build what you like I just don`t know.
