"Remember the "input" allowed from Repubs in the ObamaCare debate? Zero!"
Gimme a break!.. Why do you think the bill is 2000 pages long? To appease the leftmost of the Republicans so that it would pass congress! And it DID pass congress, remember?!
How many times have they tried to repeal it now? 40? And they've failed every time. They`re actively wasting taxpayer time and money on something they must know by now is pointless. They`re acting like children essentially. Holding their hands over their ears and screaming NO NO NO NO NO!... Pathetic.

I'm no expert, but as far as i`ve understood, that is a temporary stabilizing measure, that they have already begun to ramp down. But yes you`re right, it can`t go on forever.
"They passed ONE in 2009 and ZERO since then" What are you talking about??. The 2012 budget was passed and signed into law???.. Or are you talking about something else entirely? Those "last minute 200 billion in NEW TAXES" were actually 100 billion in corporate tax cuts and 100 billion in social security/payroll tax cuts. The total spending stayed almost exactly the same in the enacted bill as in the proposed bill. It`s all in that link. (at least you got the figure right)
You pull statements out of your a$$ and just claim them to be true, and don`t seem to care what actually happened.

#2 The FED has been printing money it cannot support and floating bonds WHILE keeping interest rates extra-low. POP! When those things become impossible, and they will!
#3 "congress has constructed a ticking time bomb" = Yup! On purpose! Because the Dems refuse to pass a budget! ALL they need to do to avoid this is pass a budget, but they've blocked EVERY attempt. They passed ONE in 2009 and ZERO since then, think about it: the USA`s economy has been "on autopilot" for 4+ years... scary!
#4 & #5 The Dems and Reps DID agree to a budget in 2012, but Obama, at the `last minute` demanded 200 Billion in NEW TAXES (so he could spend more, NOT to reduce the deficit!) and killed it. Even the Dems were shocked!
Remember the "input" allowed from Repubs in the ObamaCare debate? Zero! "We won." is Obama`s famous quotation on THAT subject...

#4 & #5: And i agree with him completely. The (republican controlled) House of Representatives is holding the off switch to the time bomb in their hands. A bomb that will destroy the US economy (and severely damage the rest of the world with it). But what they're saying is "agree to our demands, or we`ll let the bomb go off". Obama is saying "turn off the bomb, then we can negotiate. I will not negotiate under the threat of destruction". Since it`s the Republican party that`s holding the world at ransom instead of some terrorist group, you apparently don`t see any problem with it. A bit disturbing tbh.
Don`t think I`m some Obama fan boy. I don`t really like the guy tbh. And yes, the deficit must be dealt with, I completely agree! But it has to be done CAREFULLY! You HAVE to see that the republicans in congress are acting like complete CHILDREN, ESPECIALLY in this case.

@5Cats: #1: Am i just supposed to take your word for that? If the debt ceiling is not raised, the consequences WILL be catastrophic. #2: I have no idea what you're talking about. please enlighten me. #3: That raises an interesting point. Essentially, congress has constructed a ticking time bomb, that has to have it`s timer reset every two years or so. Why? Beats the poo out of me. A large majority of economists agree that the ceiling should be abolished all together. cont.
