That was pretty bad ass but as lauriloo said "I wish he had talked more about the things he saw." I did get creeped the hell out when that little girl rode by all weird on that bike.

Many years ago me and my family immigrated to this country from the USSR with rationed clothes, $400 and without the ability to speak English. My aunt who immigrated a few short years later accompanied my father to a supermarket for a short shopping trip. As they approached the glass doors her eyes widened as though she could see something she hasn't seen before... the automatic doors opened and in a stunned gaze she barely shuffled into the store and mumbled something under her breath... my father turned to ask her what she said, but all he could do was catch her... because she fainted right there at the entrance... when she came to my father asked her what happened... she responded with, "there was so much food on the shelves... so much food..."

I found that really touching, somehow. What an amazing thing to do, and he took it all with such grace, appreciating the unique opportunity given to him. And in the end, "Damn my country," he says. That's too bad.
