should not include weapons capable of mass genocide... There he goes! Flogging those dead horses again!
@Stephen? (HolyGod's new name) WHO EVER said citizens should own "weapons of genocide"??? NO ONE is who! A semi-auto with a 20 round clip is no more useful in GENOCIDE than a dozen other weapons. Many of which are HOME MADE (like pipe bombs).
I`m glad you`ve noticed that the "AGW `facts`" are indeed `skewed` (to put it politely!) though. That`s some improvement.
@Gauddith: If EVERY human in Canada reduced their "greenhouse gas emissions" (which includes "carbon") to ZERO? It would...
Less than 0.01% by the year 2100!
And that`s to ZERO! Not "within 95% of 1996 rates" which is like spitting in the ocean. ANY ocean! Take your pick!
So why should Canada RUIN it`s economy to save... NOTHING? Serious question.

HG, go back and read the quote. What you claim was not the statement I was contradicting. The earth's temperature has been going up and down like a yo-yo for millions of years.
We`re not causing it, we can`t stop it, and I`ll be damned if I`m going to let a bunch of lying liberal fascist hucksters and their f***tard minions use it as a pretext to boss me around and take my stuff, which is exactly what the global warming hoax is all about.
You're absolutely right; we will get decent, viable electric cars, or something like it. At the moment they`re like old 80s phones: expensive and inconvenient, useful only for niche enthusiasts and as toys for the wealthy. but you only need to look in our pockets to see that technology progresses and reaches the masses in a useful way. And you`re right; usually, the bogeyman isn`t needed to make that happen.
But for electric cars, things are a little different: the bogeyman is a big part of why electric cars are a something we want to acheive in the first place. Climate change aside, they have the potential to be cleaner and more energy efficient. Their appeal is still largely for their environmental benefits.
Anyway, climate change will just make things a little pricier for us in the developed world. We`re not going to suffer the droughts and floods and famines. We really can`t complain.

Musuko42-"The States would never have landed on the moon in such a short period of time were they not fearing the Soviets breathing down their neck."
While I believe the entire space program was a great idea and we've benefited from it immensely, the Moon Race was basically Bigger Dick Foreign Policy at its finest.
Musuko42-"seem to need a boogeyman to motivate them to do anything."
Not always. And the difference is that, while I would LIKE a viable electric car, at the moment there is no real NEED for it. Contrary to popular belief, we`re not about to run out of oil. Also contrary to popular belief, with our current eletric infrastructure and manufacturing methods, building and operating an electric vehicle does nothing to reduce emmisions.
