Please don't confuse this crap for Haute Couture! Gee, I qualified it with "so-called" and put scare quotes around it. What more should I have done to make it apparent that I really didn`t think this really was real haute couture?
Please don't confuse this crap for Haute Couture! Real haute couture is a dying art form, and is actually all handmade for a specific customer. Only certain fashion houses are certified to produce Haute Couture collections (they also produce Ready-to-Wear cheaper clothing for people who can`t afford Haute Couture) like Dior, Chanel, Giambattista Valli, etc. It`s all custom and made to measure, meaning it costs anywhere from thousands, to over a hundred thousand dollars for a single garment. I`m not defending this look at all (it`s fugly). I`m just trying to say is theres a distinct difference between Haute Couture, and other types of fashion. Yes, Haute Couture is really REALLY snooty (like 0.000001% can afford it), but there`s a rich history behind it that doesn`t deserve to be dragged down to this level of vulgarity.
