We were asked to go to South Vietnam,

Which came from an incredibly incompetent government inherited from the final years of Bao Dai regime. No amount of intervention would save it. We were under no obligation to help.
The UN was asked by the South Koreans for help,
They would've gotten help without our involvement.
Most Iraqis welcomed us when we came and overthrew Saddam.
Three years later, they wanted us out. Similarly after we ended British rule we did not want the French hanging around in our borders. Additionally we had no need to get involved in the first place
Just like many Libyans asked for our help
Which led to more problems than we fixed, to which the Benghazi incident was merely a taste.

Syrians are asking us for help now

The "rebels" you refer to are a collection of very diverse factions that are actually fighting each other for power. None of which we'd want to partner with for ANY reason.

Yeah, that's why our on-duty police go around unarmed right?

That`s why they go around armed with sidearms keeping their shotguns in the car, as opposed to assault rifles, machine guns, bazookas et cetera.

"... that is constantly at war"

@HolyGod: Since you ADDED THAT to what he said? He has no requirement to "defend it".

You do know where the "Barbary Coast" is, right? Hint: It's NOT in North America...

You do know when it happened, why it happened, how France, England & others just ignored "the problem" since it was cheaper for them to "pay off" the criminals...

"Btw, Switzerland does have a strong military and military service is mandatory. Their military and their country's terrain have kept them safe."

Yes they do. You are missing the second part of my statement "... that is constantly at war". How much do you see Switzerland invading other countries?
