@Essersmith: Oh, I'm not saying @Draculya is "wrong" but he isn`t using "logic" eh? Humanism does not "preclude or exclude" the existence of God. (afaik!) You can be a humanist with or without faith in a higher power. (IMHO)
@simbha: *nod nod* Yes, by definition, you are correct. @Wendypants too!
@papajon0s1: Yeah, that explanation makes better sense than "burning" but again it`s very difficult for us humans to understand what life "with or without God" would be like. Afterlife I mean...

Interesting reading the comments here; seems there are a lot of theology majors out there! :) I've been a Catholic my entire life and I claim no great all-knowing knowledge of the Good Book. Seems to me everyone has there own version; I bet if you asked both Pope Francis and Benedict they`d each give you a different answer! I think that`s why Catholics believe in "one church" That means ultimately, wherever you are at in how you view God, you are still welcomed as part of the unity between God and man. Yes. regardless of your religion or if you believe or not. A Catholic priest (now a Bishop) once likened the next life to one of two options, heaven is next life with God, and hell (or whatever you want to call it) is the next life without. Given those two options, yeah, uh, I`ll go with the former.

An example: Identical twins, both living exactly the same lives, making the same moral decisions, on believes in god the other doesn't. Other one goes to hell, the other one doesn`t. What is the logic there? How is that just? And don`t give me that "gods ways are blaa blaa" crap, if a human being can not understand why he is being punished, someone hasn`t explain the rules very well. If you don`t know the rules, how are you suppose to play the game?
You can`t call a free choice if you held a gun on o mans head, do this or i`ll shoot you in the foot for ten years. It`s a choice just not a free choice.
Hell has always been about control, bible does not mention such a place for humans (satan gets thrown in to the firey pit, which makes a LOT more sense), Jesus never said anything even remotely close to that concept.
80 years of slightly wrong lifestyle or wrong religion equals eternity of pain. Try to justify that.

@mike59271... what you wrote made me laugh soooo hard!! 'Heaven/Hell is not about punishment/rewards.` Really? If you`re good/worship God, you go to heaven AS A REWARD; if you don`t, you go to hell as PUNISHMENT. Any time I`ve read the bible or gone to church this is what I`ve been told. (One down... two to go...) `It is about a free decision made by all of us to be with or without God.` Yeah, I LOVE God`s version of free choice! God SAYS it`s our choice (according to the bible) but always remember that if you don`t choose him, he`ll punish you for eternity!! ... not really a choice there, man. `Seems like he`s taking a pretty big leap of faith based on very little evidence...` THAT IS the basis of religions... faith without evidence.
