Yes really. I never said our brains have frame rates. I said "can process". The light blinks on and off 18 times per second which is faster than your brain can process. You don't even see the light going off. It just appears on the whole time. Scientists say we can process around 20 images per second.

Digital video cameras capture 30 fps. So they are catching some of the off moments, hence the flicker.

Yes of course you could set the camera to shoot at 18 fps in sequence with the light. I was just explaining why there was flicker in the videos.

Also, it is more than just flickering that makes this less than it could be. There are obvious compression artifacts.
