We used to make match guns from clothes pins.
If you load it like it shows in the pic, you have to shoot the match at a hard surface for it to light, and then it's about a 1 in 10 proposition at best. However, if you turn the match around, the impact of the spring will strike the match as you fire it, and it will still be burning when it hits up to 20` away. BTW, you have to use "strike-anywhere" kitchen matches, not the kind shown in the pic.
