That's an exaggeration...ancient Greek philosophers argued about it but didn`t prove heliocentrism, which was a minority view. Most of them thought that the Earth was the centre of the solar system, which was not a silly idea given the observations that can be made by eye, and most people in the world in those days weren`t familiar with the work of Greek philosophers.

Lets not be so hard on religion. Sometimes it takes time for facts of reality to sink in on the ignorant and the slow. After all they just recently accepted the fact the Sun is the center of our Planetary system and the Earth is not the center of the Universe while the rest of the world knew this from the time of Eratosthenes (276-194 BCE)

Most mainstream Christian denomonations accept evolution as a fact but suggest that it is the mechanism chosen by god to populate his creation. Which, given that god could by definition have chosen any method including just poofing creatures into being and having them flourish on a diet of moonbeams, implies an utterly callous deity.
Yeah, but he recently realised that problem. Get ready for the discovery of the moonbeam toad in the next few years.

I find TRUTH to be a strange name for a group that promotes lies. Even the Catholic Church has acknowledged the validity of evolution. Jesus would not be pleased with this group.
