I don't see what all the fuss is about. In my high school there was at least one instance of a student getting fed up with a teacher and storming out of class every week. I was witness to at least a dozen such instances and never did a student have anything constructive to say about anything while walking out of class.
All this talk of ODD about a kid who was making a valid argument given the context is silly; he could have handled it better, sure, but it`s not like he was screaming at the top of his lungs, cursing at the teacher incessantly, and claiming that he didn`t need an education.
we used to have some of the best healthcare in the world. but due to the "economy" cuts cuts cuts.. It's the age old problem of mental health care. you can see a broken leg, put a splint around it and in 6 weeks you`ll be right. figuring out what`s wrong with someone mentally, finding a way for them to cope/deal with it and reintregating them back into society is hmmm.. not as easy to understand for a person who hasn`t immersed themself in the matter. Over here people with schizophenia, MPS are the ones i`m worried about the most. but even depression and such are starting to become your problem. I predict that within a year or two we`ll have schizophrenics on the street without meds. (brrr) But, i love my work. and will find way`s to continue. I hope you do too.

Same over here.. major budget cuts. We have to request services, and they are being limited more and more. They are even shortening hospital stays. One of the reasons I am against Obamacare - but that is another topic. I fear for some of my more chronic clients (PTSD etc) when they start to get less and less maintenance services. It is getting pretty desperate in some situations. We (the professionals) have to argue for every single service we offer. I was hoping the DSM V would help with coverage for my kiddos. (I work in children's services).
That's good to hear (about your diagnoses) i like people who are passionate about their job. about the DSM V, i didn`t know about the NIMH pulling support, behind the curtians there is simuliar stuff going on over here. I can understand the reasoning behind it, but i`m worried for the patients and people that need to pay for their treatement/meds. We have been having major budget cuts over here.. and my prediction is that a lot of people who should be off the street will be forced back on it.
