He Will Be Missed... He made some of my Favorite Movies. Earth vs flying saucers. Golden Voyage of Sinbad. And almost made The War Of The Worlds but George Pal beat him in the contract.

Just the name Harryhausen conjures up such great memories. I remember seeing "Jason & the Argonauts" when it first played in the theater. Watching that skeleton fight for the first time as a kid, when it was brand new, was a memorable experience.

OldOllie: Stop motion was made obsolete first by blur motion, and then by CG. The first Star Wars had excellent miniature work, and the only difference was that they moved the pieces during each frame. Had Ray stumbled on the technique, his work might have lost the unrealistic jerkiness that always characterized it. Still, most of us have an affection for an old movie or two that bear his stamp.
