The whole point of Kickstarter is for people with good ideas who *Don't* have the traditional means of financing available to them.
Hollywood stars who are wealthy in their own right do NOT fit this criteria and it is a usurping of the intent.
Zack Braff could have finance his new movie completely out of his own pocket if he wanted complete autonomy. Most independent filmmakers don`t have that ability so it`s BS that he use this medium when he doesn`t have to. He just wanted risk free money that he doesn`t have to pay back if he fails.

so why exactly can't his kickstarter campaign be a larger-scale project (in terms of kickstarter), and still a smaller personal film? i don`t see any kind of contradiction there at all.
nor do i think "Garden State" has aged poorly. I watched it a few weeks ago and it still seemed pretty good.
had the chicago release still had tickets, i would have easily put up the money for an advanced screening and q&a with braff. easily worth $100 to me.

HOW DARE PEOPLE SPEND THEIR MONEY HOW THEY SEE FIT!?!?!?! I don't think you understood the writer`s intent. He didn`t tell anybody to do anything, he just said we as people have set a bad precedent by doing this. He`s just attempting to persuade you of his view in a non-pushy way, there`s nothing wrong with that.
