I have found that many times there is a lot of common ground as to outcomes but the people come from completely different paths in getting there. What to blame for the massive political divide in our country? Probably a lot of things. Will we ever find a way to exist without all this hatin'? Not sure how, but I hope so.

If you can get rid of the 5% of the idiots on the Extreme Right and the 5% of the idiots on the Extreme Left what you are left with is the 90% of Americans that mostly agree.
Unfortunately that Extreme 10% of idiots are the ones either in control of the media or the ones the media is giving air time to.

I'm spending the week with my conservative parents. My brother and his wife and I are liberal. As a general rule for a few years now we do not talk about sensational "news". When you remove the BS that opinion media makes people believe that they are supposed to be there suddenly is an incredible amount of common ground. The awesome part is when the sensational part of politics is removed from political conversations the conversations get really boring and you stop talking politics. That`s because straight politics is real boring. That`s why opinion media has to make up conflicts. Five days now and not even a raised voice. It has been a wonderful trip.

The problem isn't left or right, it`s an issue of disconnect from common sense. Certain issues seem easily cut and dry to most of us but are way too far beyond the comprehension of most politicians and law makers whose only concern is where the next bribe....sorry, contribution comes from. We ARE NOT a capitalist nation. We have bastardized and changed the rules so much that real capitalism doesn`t exist. If it did the banks and auto companies should have been left to their own devices.
