Look everyone! Wendy heard something and has to post about it.
As for going faster and losing the plates. Bad idea. They'd be going 230 and though the packs would likely be smaller all it takes is one car to get turned around and then airborne. To retrofit Daytona and Talladega would probably cost 200-300 million dollars in huge fences and alterations to the stands to put the fans further from the track.
Stock cars have no business going that fast. The new cars and S.A.F.E.R walls have brought unprecedented safety to the series but add 30 more mph to the average crash and the bodies will start to pile up.

Fancythat, I think if they took off the restricted plates the cars would fly off the track into the stands on every turn. But I could be wrong.
