That is true...but it doesn't work all that well.
I`m registered with the TPS. I still get a lot of scumbag companies phoning me at home to try to get money for themselves one way or another. Since I work shifts, that often means they wake me up. They are filth.
TPS only covers person to person direct sales from UK companies. So it doesn`t cover automated calls, it doesn`t cover calls that aren`t direct sales and it doesn`t cover calls from outside the UK. So it doesn`t apply to companies selling services that you don`t directly pay for (e.g. compensation companies that get money from settlements) and it can be evaded by the company starting off by asking you a question (it then becomes a survey, not a direct sales call).
