What's the official laguage used in the US for governement verbage?
The USA doesn`t have an official language. It wasn`t thought necessary. Now it`s far too much of a political issue for any action to be taken (unless the USA is successfully conquered by settlement and Spanish becomes the official language as a result).
Someone put up a standard school park sign in a public park by mistake. It`s only an issue because some people can use it as a political tool to either help the conquest or gain power/publicity/money for themselves directly.

You should come to Quebec, where we have the worst language laws to protect the French language. Not allowed to have outdoor English signs, even for safety notices, and indoor signs require French to be twice the size of English.
