Don't have to use our phones. We have "smartboards" that you can write on like a chalkboard. It looks like a whiteboard actually. When you`re done, you can save it as a pdf and upload to whatever site your school uses for course management. I don`t know about anyone else but I retain more when I can just sit and listen than when I`m rote copying randomness down. I can sit and listen and then review the notes later. Also convenient if you miss a day. No bugging friends or teachers for missing notes.

I don't think it`s dumb exactly. It`s just that a notebook doesn`t run out of battery, or get stolen. you don`t have to mess around with different formats, and It`s hard drive/memory card is not going to fail. I`ve always found that I retain information better if I write it out a few times.
On the other hand, we were encouraged to learn mathematics without a calculator because "you won`t always have access to one" the calculator on my phone can do more than the one i had in year 9 and it didn`t cost me 60 bucks.

I am slightly anal retentive and a mess up so to have that reference to catalog is heaven! It isn't my notes. Those have to be handwritten or recorded then transcribed to text in a very specific format I learned when the internet didn`t exist.
