Actually, that provision in the IRS code is blatantly unconstitutional, and it has never been enforced. It is only used to intimidate conservative pastors into silence, while liberal pastors - particularly liberal African-American pastors - are never questioned about their routinely and flagrantly flouting this rule.

However, this year hundreds of conservative pastors spoke out in favor of Republicans and against Democrats -- mostly with regard to the issues of abortion and gay marriage -- and sent the videos of their sermons to the IRS, defying them to try to enforce their unconstitutional rule.

So far, not one has heard back from them.

Maybe he was under a contract, and was required to do this to prevent facing legal issues. He didn't actually withdrawal any statements, and i wouldn`t either if i were in his shoes. TV today is pretty lame.
